              These interesting hand carved household shrines are placed over or near doorways, containing an image of Ganesha as 'the remover of obstacles', or other locally appropriate deity.They are made of a solid, dense wood with a beautiful patina and are of varying intricacy depending on the skill of the carver.

              Kondh Sculpture
              Kondh sculpture is a branch of aboriginal handicraft confined to certain pockets of Eastern India. Kondh sculpture figurines are small and portray the lifestyle and elements from the largest tribe of Odisha called Kondh or Kanda. The piercings, dressing style, hunting or warrior patterns are closely reflected in the artefacts. There are very few artists remaining in Eastern India who excel in this particular style of metal sculpting.
